Island Games

commonwealth_games
As a student of Jersey (Chungdokwan) Taekwondo, you could now represent Jersey in the Commonwealth Games !

In October 2010, the General Assembly of the Commonwealth Games Federation announced that the Olympic and World Taekwondo Federation sport of Taekwondo has now been added to the list of sports that are eligible for inclusion in future Commonwealth Games programmes.

And in respect of Jersey, the Jersey (Chungdokwan) Taekwondo club, through our affiliation with Taekwondo Chungdokwan GB and the BTCB, as the governing body for WTF Taekwondo in the UK, has constituted BTCB Jersey and has been accepted by the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey as the official and representative body of the sport of WTF Taekwondo across the Island.

Essentially, as WTF Taekwondo is the only style of Taekwondo permitted to take part in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, notwithstanding any National, European and World Championships, and moreover as the BTCB is the governing body for WTF Taekwondo in the UK, responsible in turn for selecting teams to compete at international level, then anybody wishing to train in the WTF code, and indeed any budding stars of the future, can therefore only enrol through Jersey (Chungdokwan) Taekwondo.

All we need now – for a clean sweep – is inclusion in the Island Games!

Congratulations to Dave Crossland

Congratulations to Dave Crossland who on Sunday 5th December 2010 attended the Chungdokwan Dan Grading in Southampton and successfully graded from Kukkiwon 1st to 2nd Dan.
